How to hear it

An 8-matra taal that is one of the most commonly heard rhythmic cycles in light-classical, folk, devotional, and popular music across North India.

Start by clapping along: clap on the sam (first beat) and on each tali marker. Wave your hand on the khali. As you practice, you will begin to feel the cycle even without counting.
