Biography
Pandit Dattatreya Vishnu Paluskar, known as D.V. Paluskar, was one of the most gifted and beloved vocalists in Hindustani music history, whose tragically early death at age 34 left an irreparable void. Son of the legendary music educator Pt. Vishnu Digambar Paluskar, he inherited the Gwalior gharana tradition and his father's devotional sensibility, developing a voice of extraordinary beauty and spiritual radiance. His recordings of Yaman, Bhairav, Malkauns, Bhoopali, and Bhairavi are considered among the most perfect examples of khayal singing ever captured. His rendition of 'Man Tarpat Hari Darshan Ko Aaj' in Baiju Bawra (1952) became one of the most famous classical vocal performances in Indian cinema. Despite his brief life, his recordings exerted enormous influence on subsequent generations.
